Original information sign
The original informational sign across from Speedway on SR 212 was purchased by CBATV in 2004. Its plastic center with changeable letters advertised non-profit community events by request. The sign was mounted between two sandstone pillars designed by Andy Palof of Country Sign Co.
On Nov. 1, 2009, Barbara Scott made arrangements with the Tusky Valley Schools Guidance Dept. to have students needing community service time change the sign wording manually. The students did this weekly until the new electronic sign was installed in 2011. The plastic center with changeable letters was donated to Tusky Valley High School at that time.
Going COLOR – Going Digital!
On March 9th, 2011, Barbara and Mark Scott Sr. submitted a grant to Richard LeBold. The $25,000 grant was approved and obtained to purchase an electronic sign to be used as a continued source of community communication. The funds were received through Tim Vandersall – Countywide Community Benefit Project Fund.
This electronic sign, featuring full color and crawling text, was installed by Adams Sign Co. on a triangle of land situated on SR212 across the street from the Wilkshire Hills welcome sign. The site is owned by Dr. Krizman, and Lawrence Township mows the grass around the sign at no charge to the association. Wendy’s Restaurant provides the daily expense of electricity to the sign – also at no charge to the association.
Messages to be posted are either phoned or emailed to Community Business Association co-presidents, Barbara & Mark Scott, Sr. They schedule the info, and Mark inputs the data, drives to the site and uploads the info into the sign.
During the first week of each month, all CBATV members are highlighted, along with paid advertisements. Non-profit events are advertised free of charge for northern Tuscarawas County resident and visitor awareness.
Paid advertisements are available for birthdays, anniversaries, and thank you messages at very reasonable rates. CBATV members receive a reduced fee for event posting, and non-member for-profit businesses paying full price may advertise for as long as two weeks to spotlight their events.
